An Outdated 70’s into a Modern Scandinavian

Our clients had lived in this house since the 1970’s and called us to help them not only renovate their home, but also to add on a new room. They wanted a sunroom to enjoy their back yard without having to go outside. They also love to entertain guests and wanted to expand their entertaining enjoyment. We worked with them to create floor plans for the new and old spaces and guided them on where and how the new addition would connect to their existing home. To design the sunroom, we expanded off of their existing dining room and den. We added French doors and windows with hidden screens and also a separate heating and air system, so they could close off the area and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine! Other exterior changes that were made include a new roof and new windows throughout the home.

For the interiors, the clients communicated a passion for Scandinavian design, the color blue, and their hobby of traveling the world. We utilized these passions while completely renovating every room of the house. The kitchen stayed in the same location, but appliances were moved to make the space more efficient for cooking. Wall cabinets were eliminated to create an open feel between the kitchen and den. Modern cabinetry, appliances and hardware were paired with quartz countertops and marble backsplash to give an updated look to the space. In the master bath, two existing rooms were combined into one to give a larger feel and to add room for a luxurious air bath tub and shower combo with body sprays. Blue decorative tiles were incorporated into the floor and wall patterns, which greatly enhance the blue granite countertops.

As requested to accommodate our client’s love of books, we designed separate, private offices to organize each of their personal libraries. Both the guest and master bedrooms were given facelifts to include custom made bedding and drapery, which also added touches our of client’s favorite color blue. The remainder of the furniture in the house is a mixture of their original furniture, which was upholstered to match the new space, and new furniture to compliment their tastes and seating for when they entertained. The home was also updated with some of the latest technology in entertainment systems including surround sound in most of the rooms of the home. The home received a complete overhaul, but when it was finished it was the realization of the dream home our clients had always wanted.
